History

Alastair Low from Lowtek games is a huge popup book fan. During a game jam at the V and A in Dundee in 2019 teamed up with a group of students and pitched the idea of a projection mapped popup book inspired by Scotlands largest popup book which is on display at the Museum. The jam lasted 3 days and they had a working prototype at the end. It went semi viral on Twitter and was invited to be shown at some film festivals but then covid hit and it got shelved. In 2023 Alastair Picked up the project again. Remade the book, with upgraded art and easy setup in mind using an affordable android based projector with some electronics in the book to detect page turns. Future: We are currently looking into scaling this up to be more of a platform with a set of guidelines and sdk for creating games and books. Many well known paper engineers have shown interest in working on this project.

"This is magical" "I had a blast playing the game"
This Playable Pop-up Book Is The Coolest Thing I've Ever Seen.
But my absolute favorites were barc... and the projector mapping magic of this bib goes home flipbook.
an impossibly cute cardboard flip book and projector combo that let its cartoon hero Bib bound across the 3D paper environments to find a way home.
The coolest game I played at GDC was from the Alt. Ctrl. section. The game is projected onto a pop-up flip book and you play on it.
Lowtek Games have reinvented what a game can be and they've torn down the walls between digital and analogue.
